SLEEK & STIFF DESIGN

Our primary goal was to design a sleek and stiff 700C road bike.
The rear shock zone in particular was a point of interest as this is where a lot of technology had to be made "invisible". We accepted that this type of design adds a little weight.

INTEGRATED HEADSET

Specially for this bike we developed a 1-1/8 integrated headset. The diameter is tapered to keep the bore diameter as small as possible. A large diameter harms the sleek lines of the frame. The wall thickness of the headset is thick enough to resist the pressure of the gussets.

CHALLENGE CHAIN IDLER

Challenge´s tensioned idlers are made of injection-moulded carbon, and just like carbon in graphite form, the material has its own self-lubricating anti-friction properties built in. The idlers run on sealed bearings which can slide easily along their axles, allowing the idlers to adapt to the chain position as you change gear, minimising side loads.
This reduces noise and friction even further

CHALLENGE CNC STEM SYSTEM

The base of the System is a block which clamps to the top of the fork shaft, to fi t all of Challenge´s forks. Attaching to this with a smooth, play-free pivot system is the riser, which is CNC machined in a single piece. This is a highly stressed part and welds might compromise its strength.

RACK OPTION

For when an aerodynamic seat bag is to small to carry your luggage, we offer a rack. As this rack can carry 25kg of load, your lightweight 700C wheels become the weakest point. Therefore we also offer a dual 559 wheel set including disk brakes and mudguards to create a fast touring machine. With this combination we also fit an extra idler for the return chain above the front wheel.

COMPARED TO SEIRAN-SL

For our customers who are familiar with the Seiran-SL, this picture gives a good impression of the geometry and size.
The dual-650C Seiran-SL is valued for its low seat height compared to regular high-racers. The new Chamsin is even lower, with dual 700C!

There are plans for a hard-tail version of the Chamsin, focusing on weight and stiffness for sure!
